Ontrack Disk Manager 2000 4.06.05 // Ontrack Disk Manager For DOS/Windows 9.61.06
This is a version of the Ontrack Disk Manager released by IBM/Hitachi, it works just like the full retail version of Ontrack Disk Manager 2000 with no restrictions on what kind of drive you can use it on. It is essentially composed of two products, Ontrack Disk Manager 2000 for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, and Ontrack Disk Manager for DOS/Windows 3.x.
If you want to manage a disk drive for 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP please download the diskmanagersetup.zip file. If you want to make a disk to use with DOS/Windows 3.x, please download the DMDISK.zip file.
It officially supports:
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me (*Ontrack Disk Manager 2000 4.06)
Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional (*Ontrack Disk Manager 2000 4.06)
Windows 2000 Professional· Windows NT Workstation 4.0 (*Ontrack Disk Manager 2000 4.06)
Windows 3.x* - (*Ontrack Disk Manager For DOS/Windows 9.61)
DOS versions 3.31* and greater (*Ontrack Disk Manager For DOS/Windows 9.61)
This is the very last version of Ontrack Disk Manager that supports Windows 3.1x and DOS.
Even though the overall product for DOS/Windows 3.x is version 9.61.06 the Dynamic Disk Overlay (which is the portion that allows you to use larger hard drives on older systems and versions of the DOS/Windows OS) is a higher version, 9.83, which is the latest known version of the Ontrack Disk Manager - Dynamic Disk Overlay before support for DOS & Windows 3.x was removed in version 10.
This version is capable of updating older versions of the Ontrack Disk Manager, such as 9.57, in place without harming the files on the disk you have the ODM-DDO installed.
The Ontrack Disk Manager 9.61 for DOS/Windows 3.x bootdisk can only be accessed through the DMDISK "Diskette Creator" program through which the Ontrack Disk Manager can be run for managing any drives that have or are going to have DOS/Windows 3.x. This is only possible if you have a usable 1.44 MB HD 3.5" disk drive and a single blank disk to use with the program.
If you want to run the Ontrack Disk Manager 9.61 without using it as a bootdisk, you will want to download the file ODM961D.zip. It contains the decompressed Disk Manager program that can be run right from the disk after you boot your system normally. It also contains the DOS and Windows 3.1 32-bit disk access drivers in a decompressed form so they can easily be manually copied to your hard drive for installation if the automated install program doesn't properly update or install the drivers.
You will know the Ontrack Disk Manager 9.61 Windows 3.1 32-bit disk access driver is properly installed in your windows directory if the ONTRACKW.386 file in the Windows directory is 16,482 bytes in size. The prior version from 9.57 is 16,412 bytes in size.
The Ontrack Disk Manager 9.61 DOS driver, ONTRACKD.SYS, located in the root of your C drive, if it is installed correctly, will be 13,295 bytes in size.
